Today, my eyes are burning and I’ve snuggled myself into the big pink robe on the couch, for yet another day. I’ve just downed round 14 or so of the Mucinex, w water, while choking out the nasty bronchial cough and sore throat with halls and hot tea. I think the winter flu is trying to get the best of the Hudson home – but it will not win!! *cough, cough*. Hunny Bunny wasn’t feeling par Monday as he left for his first night-shift back to work since the holiday break.
We have been so sick, we used up all the kleenex in the house and have resorted to using rolls of toilet paper. I know we are not the only ones in the world who have been so sick that you actually sleep with the toilet paper roll by your pillow and unroll during the night at leisure. Yes, it’s that bad, for about a day we were just not up to going to the store to fix our situation.
Speaking of sleeves, we do actually have something new up our sleeves, and we are praying it all works out this week!! It will be a huge answer for a really big prayer…(no, we are no pregnant –yet) We are praying to get back on days! It’s not all final yet, but I will post when it is.
When he took this job last summer, I accidentally fell into the night-shift sleep pattern with him. The first few nights were fine, but I began to find myself laying half awake/half asleep until I heard the car pulling into the driveway and door unlocking with his safe arrival home. It’s about 20 minutes south of Montgomery, in the not-so-great part of town. Maybe I’m a worrier. Maybe I’m just used to having the personal heat-pump system laying next to me. I don’t know. But 4 a.m. has become a new sweet spot in our day….I mean night. It’s our new “hey hunny, how was your day? what’s God doing in your heart? you love me how much? what’s for dinner, i mean breakfast?” part of the day. Then just as the sun starts to crackle across the sky, the twilight fever catches on and it’s time for beddie bye. And then we wake up to the sun setting in the sky.
Now, the problem with living the life of a vampire is two fold. one: the rest of the world is alive during the day, and two: once u get bitten by the night bug, like the 80’s Pat Benatar’s song says ‘We-ee Belong, we belong together…’ The past two weeks, I have tried desperately to ’switch back’ and become human again…with no avail. One half of those tiny little Melatonin pills dad gave me knocked me out for a good 16 hours…yes, that’s how long it takes to fly to China! And yet, midnight, I’m waking up ready to eat my mid-day meal and to start baking something. I’m open for suggestions on how to get my schedule repaired.
Anyway, in the spirit of 80’s music, which helped shape our 30’s generation today – I leave you with a Journey goodie (*understandably, “Faithfully” will always be the defining song of that era, but this one may be my 3rd favorite, 2nd’d to Rick Springfield’s ‘Jessie’s girl’…ok, I’m going to have to create an entire new post for this sub-point obviously).
Oh Sherry!
